According to a sheriff’s report, Rodriguez-Vasquez was working at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s, a church at 918 Piney Grove Road, when the assaults occurred. Graham said Rodriguez-Vazquez got to know the victim while working with young people at the church.
When they say working with young people at the church, it leads me to conclude he's probably a Ministerial Servant, or possibly an Elder. Maybe even simply a baptized brother that took the lead on whatever aspect of work was being done at the Hall. Probably a spring cleaning or something of that nature. Still, how'd he pull of sex with a 12 year old at the KH with other folks around?
edit post: Sir82, I can only imagine the phone calls, and definately a possibility that he's not a JW now that you mention it.

Theocratic Sedition
I still want to believe, and there have been quite a few moments in my life where things happened that caused me to look up at the sky and express thanks or privately acknowledge a hidden helping hand. However there have been more times in my life, especially looking at other people's lives and the messed up circumstances that they're in through no fault of their own, that make me question God's existance. Yesterday I called off from work, and it was a gorgous day, absolutely beautful. I was able to go to the bank and get some business taken care of, stopped and grabbed a bite to eat, sun was shining like the Bob Marley song, beautiful women everywhere, sighhhhh, and just to be off of work as I need a vacation and yesterday's call-off turned out to be a mental health day. The night ended with Floyd Mayweather highlights. Twas a good day. However...........
On my way home I stopped at a light and saw a young man with a physical condition, a physical retardation that I don't believe to have ever have seen before. He looked like a create-a-player from Madden 04" that went wrong. Both his feet were facing opposite directions like one was going northeast, the other northwest. His hips were dang near where his upper back was, and his groin was likewise near his chest. He was walking down the street and I thought to myself, "thank God I'm not............." which was selfish of me. Then I thought cynically, "Oh yeah, God is love alright." He reminded me of a photo manipulation that depicted a two legged elephant. It was one of those things that just messed me up yesterday for a brief moment.
Later on I caught the latter end of a film about Rwanda with John Hurt yesterday on IFC, and seeing the way people were slaughtered, and the indifference on the part of the Clinton administration was another one of those God questioning moments. At one point in the film John Hurt's character which I believe was based on an actual person, stated that God was right there amongst the people. Was thinking to myself, "if you say so bruh." To be fair to God, the actions and inactions during that whole affair can be directly attributed to humans, but the situation didn't exactly make God look great either. In general, situations like Rwanda, Darfur, Bosnia, or natural disasters that just indiscriminately destroy people's lives, make it easy to loose faith in a God.
Then there's this religion known as Jehovah's Witnesses and even more so the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society......................nothing else needs said as to why one would lose complete faith in God and his existance.

I've had a reference bible on backorder since the late fall. Our Literature Assistant told me recently he heard there was a serious debate at Bethel over what kind of material to use for the covers on the bibles. That makes absolutely zilch sense to me considering bibles have been on backorder for several months now. That said, I think there's some validity to any rumors of a new bible being released at this year's DC.

Illegal weapons supplied to Mexican cartels, Benghazi...now Boston...
by Glander inthere is are obvious "elephant in the living room" questions that the liberal media doesn't want to address.
assault weapons supplied to drug cartels who use them to kill our own agents.. our government is driven not by honest leadership that the people expect.
it is driven by pure political manipulation that has one purpose - cover the criminal incompetence of the obama administration.. this is posted under news & world events, where it belongs.

Designs To take it a step further, how many times has our goverment supplied weapons and/or aid to groups and countries that were deemed the lesser of two evils or that shared the same interests as the US goverment?

Suicide - How many do you know within the JWs
by Lady Lee inthw wts likes to play games with their statistics.
one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

Theocratic Sedition
I started to bump this thread yesterday but got caught up in the mundane things in life, ya know, work. I just heard about someone in a neighboring circuit, someone DF'd, that recently committed suicide. From what was relayed to me the deceased's children discovered the body. This person was in the process of "coming back" and had a boatload of psychological problems. I didn't know the person, or any of their immediate family, just some of their distant family in our circuit. Whether this person's death can be directly attributed to JWs/WT, I don't know. I'm pretty darn positive the JW/WT aspect of their life didn't help. Out of respect I avoided certain specifics, but there's a few people on this board that reside in my area who might be or are familiar with this situation.

It wasn't a JW though. In fact, I didn't even know what it was until I got back to the office. Last Friday, I was in a hurry to get to the Verizon store and didn't have time to chit-chat. Some old guy on the corner who I didn't even look at long enough to be able to remember him today said, "here sir." Usually I decline but for whatever reason I accepted it, put it in my jacket and moved on. I haven't had on that same jacket until this morning, and so I'm just now breezing through it. Found out about it's origins online as they have their website printed on the back.
Ya ever hear of these folks, Chick Publications? http://www.chick.com/catalog/tractlist.asp
Here's the complete tract the fella left with me. http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0100/0100_01.asp Check out some of the images from it I pasted below. You gotta love it.

Born-ins... Did your parents let you watch the 1960's children's animated series "Davey and Goliath"?
by Calebs Airplane inmy parents used to let us watch this series growing up.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wei5oek53h8&list=plsg87pnp-rju50meptced92tlyyym7wir.
... until one day they noticed it was actually a production from the evangelical lutheran church of america... .
then, it became prohibited.... the only explanation they provided us thereafter was that this cartoon was made by satan and his demons.. .

Funny how some dub parents allow this or that, but not that or this. Was just talking with a brother at the meeting yesterday and he was riffing on Disney and how it's all magic based, yadda yadda yadda. I was telling him about my love for Transformers as a kid and my mother took me to see the animated film when it hit theaters. Good memories.
One thing funny about my folks though was, they allowed me to watch Thundercats, and in hindsight, that was one of the most demonic influenced cartoons that I can ever recall. The lead bad guy went by the name of, Mumm-Ra the Everliving. He was basically a demon and a sorceror. In his weak state, he would look like a mummy that should have been in a personal care home. Then he would transform into this superpowerful demon who's only weakness was to see his own face in the mirror. When transforming, he'd yell in glee, "I'm Mumm-Ra!! Theeeeeeeeee Everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Livingggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!! Ha Ha HA!!!!" How they didn't walk by and tell me to turn it off after hearing all of that is beyond me. Davey and Goliath were tame compared to the cartoons of my generation.

GATED COMMUNITIES IN PUERTO RICO: ACCESS CODES and REMOTES must be provided to the WATCHTOWER CORPORATION by APRIL 23, 2013...
by Calebs Airplane inthis case is in it's 9th year an has been touched upon briefly on and off.. the latest from the federal court is that all gated communites in puerto rico have until april 23 to provide the watchtower corporation full access.... this means the entry code or remote control devices that open the front fence.. this is clearly an act of provocation in order to create "pseudo-persecution" thereby increasing fs hours and "voluntary donations"....

From today's WT Study, paragraph 12.
12. Since 1919 the valley of divine protection continues to protect true worshippers earth wide. Over the decades, in many parts of the world, there have been bans and restrictions on the field ministry and the Bible literature of Jehovah's Witnesses. Such restrictions still exist in certain lands. Try as they may, however, they will never succeed in stamping out true worship! Jehovah's powerful arm will prove to be with his people.Deut.11:12.
This ruling reminds me of Fred Phelps and his church's legal right to show up at funerals and protest. Yeah, they're not wanted, but their rights to protest directly outside the funeral cannot be infringed upon. Same with JWs who believe that pure worship mandates field ministry and distributing WT literature, even in gated communities. Ain't freedom grand. Queue Lee Greenwood's song now.

Friday night meetings are a bummer as it is, but it would be like salt in the wound after being all happy that the meeting is cancelled only to receive a call that its on again. For plenty of JWs it is music to their ears to hear about the meeting being cancelled. I get ecstatic when the cute lil brunette weather girl is calling for snow with multiple inches on the day or night of a meeting. Cocaine from the sky.
